Israel Trip - Here are some of the places we will visit...
Caesarea Maritime
Herod built this city and Paul was imprisoned here. The theater, forum, and aqueducts are incredible.
Mount Carmel
Stand on the mountain where Elijah called fire down from heaven and look out over the Jezreel Valley where some of the world’s greatest battles were fought.
Caesarea Philippi
Jesus took his disciples here in order to say, “I will build my church…” And once you have seen what’s really here, it will make a huge impact on your faith.
Capernaum
This is the hometown of Jesus, where he based his ministry. It’s mentioned in the Gospels 16 times.
The Sea of Galilee
We’ll take a boat ride on the water where Jesus walked.
Mount Arbel
Many believe this is the place where Jesus went after he fed the 5,000 and the place where Jesus watched the disciples during a storm in Matthew 14. The view here is incredible.
Peter's Primacy
Stand on the shore of the Sea of Galilee at the place where many people believe Jesus restored Peter to ministry. You can read about it in John 21.
Masada
This ancient fortress was built by Herod the Great and was laid siege by the Roman Empire around the time the temple was destroyed. To this day, Israeli soldiers say “Masada will never fall again” at this site when they take their vows.
The Dead Sea
At nearly 1,000 feet below sea level, it’s the lowest place on earth. Nothing lives in the salty water. It’s so salty, you’ll float.
The Mount of Olives
From the Mount of Olives, you can look across the Kidron Valley to the city of Jerusalem. It’s where Jesus ascended back to heaven and is one of the most amazing sites in the Holy Land.
The Garden of Gethsemane
We will be at the place where Jesus prayed “not my will but yours be done.” Many of the olive trees here are ancient.
The Garden Tomb
See what some say is the actual “hill of the skull” and the place where Jesus was buried. It’s a special place and we’ll celebrate communion here as a group.
